Oil level
I have an 06 Ultra with 188 miles on it. I check the oil everytime I ride. (hot engine). I just checked it after a nice ride. Let the bike sit for 45 minutes, checked oil and it is on the add mark. I'm being told that is ok. Was told you never want it to the full mark. My oil pressure also drops some as the engine gets hotter. Is this normal? Am I paranoid about my oil? Thanks.
First check on jiffy stand on level surface, oil level should be to full mark when hot, half way up when cold. You what to keep it full, the oil is needed to pull heat away, if low, the oil remaining oil gets hotter thus more heat remains in the engine. To much oil and it blows out the vents. Yes oil pressure will drop as the oil heats and thins.
Always check the oil hot on level surface using Jiffy stand. The oil pressure drops at idle with a TC88 engine. As you increase revs the pressure will increase. However, the Harley engine design is not a pressure design but a volume design. It is a dry sump system.
