Purple Haze help me out on this one. The auction describes this bike as both a 2002 and 2006 Police Edition Harley. Which is it? I guess that could be a typo.

My understanding was all of the Police Edition Eglides had ABS and the big bore motor (95 cu in/1550 cc's). No mention of either.

The current Police Ediiton is 103 cu in.

What am I missing??

I dont know what you are missing..maybe a few brain cells?...2002 was a typo...not all 2006 police bikes had ABS..THANK GOD and Willie ....wasnt aware 95 CID was even a police option in 2006..hell,mine may be a 95CID!!....idles like it has aftermarket cams...runs good but my 07 Street bob would put it to shame, but,I didnt buy it to race anyone...2007 and up cop bikes have the 103 engine,to the best of my knowledge...any more questions?..I am not and dont pretend to be a HD Police Bike knowledge base...

relax, killer, he was just asking a question. No need to insult the man. ABS was offered as an option on police bikes sometime in 2004. Up through 07, the ABS unit was a Nssin unit and was not offered for sale on civilian bikes. The abs module resided between the bike and the right saddlebag. It appears that it was a very popular option. I have only seen a handful of 06 police bikes without it, and I don't think I have ever seen an 07 police bike without ABS.

In 08, the moco switched suppliers, and the ABS units were changed to Brembo units. The abs module was relocated to under a sidecover, and the right saddlebag was once again fully usable. These ABS units were also made available as options on civilian bikes. If you want ABS on a bike made before 08, you need to buy a police or fire RK or EG.

All police twincam engines were 88 ci through 2006. There was no 95 ci option. Beginning in 2007, all police bikes came equipped with the 103 motor. It was not an option, they were all delivered with it.

If your 06 has a 95 inch motor, it was built that way by an end user. If your bike has a lumpy sounding cam, it may have been built up with big jugs and cams. If so, it should give your 07 streetbob a good run.

Sweeet! Much like mine, but yours is one year newer with less miles. I paid about the same for mine. You got a deal for sure. Assuming the ad is correct, it's got the plain vanilla 88 cube engine. Not sure about the cams though, I can't seem to get a definitive answer regarding lobe profile, some say they're different than on civilian bikes.

Get thee rid of the bra for sure. Bras not allowed in Harley world, ya know. (As I tell my wife when she rides with me.)

If you plan to put a trunk on it at any time, it will take some doing to mount one in order to clear the bag lids. They hinge differently than the regular bags. I had to make tall spacers to mount an aftermarket trunk. Yours doesn't have ABS? I thought they all did, as does mine. It has kept me from sliding into an intersection a couple of times on a short yellow.

Enjoy it! You do realize though that you now have to wear mirrored Ray Bans and buy a DVD of "Electra Glide in Blue".

Warning! Warning! Warning! Akroguy and all forum members reading this thread. Do not under any circumstances ask Purple Haze questions about his newly acquired Police bike. He's "a little" insecure. Just post "nice bike" or "great deal" and move on to the next thread.
