The supertrapp website says they are the old SE pipes they made for Harley. The one thing preventing me from pulling the trigger is that I am afraid they are the same cans I have but newer. I am worried they will be the same sound with the duals and cam. Does anyone know if they would be the same muffler?
The SuperTrapp SE's are the identical muffler as the HD SE 65115-98B. However, HD made several different versions of SE mufflers. HD quit making the 98B's after '06 due to EPA requirements. The 98B's were so popular that SuperTrapp just continued to make them under the SE name. Now that info I got directly from SuperTrapp.

I have the HD 98B's on my RK, and my best bud just put the SuperTrapp SE's on his '06 Road Glide with the same 88" stage 1 set-up as my bike. They sound vertially identical. Nice deep rumble that mellows at cruising speed. Great sounding muffs!

Also, don't let that 3db thing fool you. db's go up exponentially or something, so 3db is noticably louder than stock.

Pumba is exactly correct about the SE's and their changes...
I don't think you can find a part # on the actual pipe itself (I could be wrong), to figure out if you have a 98B style, most go by the sound, but If you purchased them before summer of '06, you can pretty much bet they are indeed the older/louder version (like the current Supertrapp SE's). After that date they probably are the newer/quiet version..

Ok, that rules out the supertrapp SEs. These pipes were on the bike when I bought it in '03, so that's what they probably are.

thanks.

Call SuperTrapp customer service they were very helpful to me. There numbers stamped on the pipes (or maybe the internal baffle canister) and they can tell you which model you have. SuperTrapp (Kerker) also made other models during that time that were louder then the 98B's. You can't lump them all together since they looked basically the same. They also have a good customer forum on thier own website at www.supertrapp.com
