Default 06 Ultra CB troubleshooting

So I take my Ultra in for it's first service and when it comes back the CB doesn't work. When I hit the com button, the display reads "Region not calibrated see dealer".

I found the Advanced audio system software upgrade procedure. I downloaded the software, followed the intstructions and tried to update the software. It looks like I already have the latest version, 7.8 although it doesn't finish like the instructions where it reboots and comes right back with FM radio and not in the diagnostics screen.

I've been through all of the fuses under the left cover. Didn't notice one that said CB specifically. Is there one in the fairing for just the CB? Haven't looked in there yet. I did check underneath the right cover where the Fuel pump and ecm fuses are located. The spare fuse was missing! Wonder if the dealer had trouble and didn't put a replacement in there. Strange...

I called the dealer and the tech said it could be either the software or a bad CB module. Gonna try to take it in Friday but if I can just replace a fuse, I'd rather do that.

Any ideas out there?

That's the big orange one underneath the left side cover right? I tried that one and it didn't seem to do anything but take power away from everything. I wonder if I have to wait a few minutes with it out? Think I'll give that a try again right now. Thanks!

So I took it out and waited at least 5 minutes before putting it back and no change. Anything else I might try?

Default RE: 06 Ultra CB troubleshooting

I took the bike into the dealer yesterday afternoon and picked it up today. All they did was initialize the radio system and they said it's fine. So far it seems ok but I have no way of actually testing the CB. Although the display now actually says CB instead of the other thing. Anyone have the procedure for doing this initalization yourself?

Sorry you must take to the dealer for them to set the region. As far as I was able to find out: Some regions, I think Japan, CB radios are illegal. Harley in their wisdom, not to mention the small percentage that are sold in Japan, their solution is to lock out the radio by region and if the region is not programed in it default to not working. I was unable to find the unlock code and had to take to the dealer and have them set the code to the tune of $65 when I replaced my radio with and new unit.

Default unlock code

That sounds like the case as I just got back fram a 5400 mile ride from Alaska to Arkansas and when I was in Alaska my CB stoped working.

Thanks for the info

Mine stopped working in Sturgis. Just started using the CB for the first time since I got the bike in 06. Worked for one day fine then I got the same code, Region not Calibrated see dealer.

How do you initialize the radio system?
