Break-In
I agree with what has been said in previous posts.
The MoCo suggests more breakin time than the bike truely "needs". Most of it is intended to be rider acclimation time. As long as you're comfortable on it... ride on! I do agree with not "over revving" it and not maintaining constant RPM rates for extended periods.
BTW - congrats!

Go and drive it the way you noramlly would. Just don't lug it down in gear, or be hitting the rev limiter as previously stated or baby it.
If the manual was serious about RPM's the MOCO would have a Tach installed on every bike.

There are different thoughts about break in but as you can see most people just ride it like they would normally ride it. Just don't lug it or redline it and you will be fine. There are thoughts that the rings seat in the first 50 miles anyway.

The manual for my SG said keep it under 3000 for the first 50 then 3500 until 500. The mechanics at my dealer said that the number of "heat cycles" is important for the first 500. Taking short trips letting the bike get fully hot then cool 5 to 10 times is a good way to break it in. That is how they do dyno break ins.

My friend picked up his 06 RK and they told him not to exceed 50 MPH for the first 500 Miles. My Stealer told me not to exceed 3K RPM for the first 500 Miles. I couldn't understand why they would tell us different things, then BAM, I saw the light. No Tach on a Road King. That is the reason for the discrepancy. 50 MPH in 5th Gear is only about 2300 RPM's. Go ahead and push it to 65 but listen to what everybody has said before. Any thing in moderation is fine. I had my SG going 65 on the highway for short bursts during my break in period no problems.
