All opinions welcome.Would I be better off buying an older rkc(97,98 etc)and doing upgrades,or buy new and doing same?Thinking 90 hp engine upgrade, chrome etc, etc.

Thanks

if not new at least go for a 1999 or newer so you get the twin cam engine

I just went through the same decision-making process. I looked for a clean, used RKC for four months. I came close to making an offer a couple of times, but in the end went with a 2006. The way HD's hold their value, it didn't cost me that much more, I get full warranty, and can customize to my taste.

Luv the bike.

I discovered the same thing last year when I bought my RK. There was so little difference between a new bike and a two year old bike, I couldn't justify buying used. I guess it depends on how old you call "old".

Old school with new school technology. If you can't have that, then new.

There are a whole lot of used bikes with low mileage out there. I have bought 2 in the last 5 months, low mileage, loaded with mods to include: one with 1550 kit, 1 with with 1690 kit. The prices were about 40 to 50% under new with the same mods. You just have to be patient.

IF pockets are deep and desire is burning, go for new, you only live once.........
