I have an '07 FLHTC and switched over to SE Heavy fork oil at the last oil change. The front suspension response was much improved. It's stiffer but not harsh. The front end seems better connected with the road. I'm not an aggressive rider but I wouldn't want the suspension softer than stock - don't want to hear that sickening clanking sound of the shocks bottoming like I did a couple of times before swapping to SE heavy.
Old thread but I just switched to Maxima 15w and think everyone with a touring bike should change if you want less brake dive, more road feel and
more controlled cornering. If you want boat like ride and softness then stay where it's at now.
I switched to the SE "Heavy" to deal with the front end dive and it did. A couple of days ago I installed the Progressive Drop-in lowering kit and dropped the front end 1", and added the SE "Heavy" fork oil. This setup is a big improvement over stock. No front end dive on braking, and a noticeably smother ride.
Is this right that Type B is a heavier oil than Type E ?
