2009 Street Glide PCV report
My interest was in seeing the effect on highway passing ability. I started in 5th gear at 2000 RPM (45 mph) and held the throttle open until 4000 RPM (90 mph) to eliminate any differences due to difference in shifting time or speed. I used the average of the time running in both directions the same day over the same level stretch of road to eliminate the effects of wind.
Times are as follows:
Bone stock = 15.3 seconds
Stock with addition of high flow air intake = 15.0 seconds (1.96% faster)
Stock with addition of high flow air & PCV = 14.4 seconds (5.88% faster)
I plan to run the same test when the new DT Jackpots are installed.
Fuel mileage ran from 42 to 44 mpg before the changes above. First tank after above changes yielded 42.8 mpg with similar mix of 1 up and 2 up riding over two lane highways, around town and back roads so there was virtually no change in fuel mileage in the same type of riding.
Subjective comments:
"Seems" to run somewhat cooler (but maybe because I want it to??)
Runs smoother with much less surging
Definitely pulls from stop easier and stronger, especially noticeable when riding 2 up
Hopefully this information will give those considering this package a real world feel for the changes they can expect. If there is any interest, I will add the results when I get the new Dyno Tuned Jackpot mufflers.
At this point I am very pleased with the changes. Very good bang for the buck.
Gary
