Are you sure your Harley is 100% American ?? Check again. I bought a Harley cause I wanted a Harley. To be honest, the source of the product was not even a (conscious) consideration. As far as imported, I'd gladly buy "local"..when the product is worth my hard earned dollars. As it stands now, in my opinion (and I'm the consumer), nothing has changed to change my mind. I didn't start this thread to start a flame war - imported vs domestic..just looking for advice. Thanks

Like any other question in a forum... everyone has an opinion and its what makes you happy and will do the job ya need it to do! Personally I like the Cummins diesels and they only come in a Dodge so I have the Megacab, lots a room for people on trips. The only drawback is the shortbed but most of the time I am pulling trailers so the bed is for the small stuff! BTW I drove Chevs up until 2004!

Keep in mind, with the tailgate down, you cant pull a trailer.(tailgate hits jack and corner of trailer) Seems to me a full size 3\4 ton and a toy hauler would be your best bet.

Default Hopefully unbiased

I have owned a Datsun PU (gutless) then a Toyota PU (180K trouble free miles), a GMC 2500 (100K trouble free miles), 82 Chevy 6.2L Diesel (150K trouble free miles) 91 Chevy K1500 350V8 (247K mostly trouble free miles, replaced tranny at 187K because I pulled a 7500 lb trailer with 2 ATCs/tools and equipment in back many many miles in hills but a great truck) a 2000K1500 Chevy but traded it in on a 2004 GMC K2500HD Duramax Diesel and have to say the 04 Duramax is the best truck of all the above so far. No issues to speak of, tows anything I want, gets better mileage than most v8 cars, goes over 600 miles between fillups.

With that said, all mfgs make good trucks so buy what you want, but buy one that does what you want it to do. If the HD doesn't fit, then it isn't doing what you want it to do. Don't pout about the bashing, just look at the options available. Thanks

i sell commercial trucks (chev) for a living. get a 2500 long bed (your choice of cab..reg, ext., or crew) and make sure your gcwr (gross combined wgt. rating) is enough for the truck, trailor, and bike along with all gear. this insures you can control and stop your truck safely. std gcwr for 2500 gas engine is 16000 and diesel is 22000. 8' bed allows you to put ALL of your bike in the bed.....

The Tundra tailgate will not support the bike IMO. Even though you state you're not going to pull a goose-neck, I'd still get a 3/4 ton diesel, but I'm partial to the Ford, Chevy's, and Dodge's. With that said, I don't think there's any tailgate that will support the bike without denting the tailgate.

Bought a goose-neck 3-horse trailer recently. The owner of the place had a Tundra and swore buy it. He stated it will pull all of his trailers no problem.

I know mine will on two of my trailers! keep in mind your putting 800 lbs in the bed and you will need to know the tongue weight on the trailer your pulling and the combined weight of everything so your not over your trucks rating. Probably 3/4 ton is the least I would pull with. Consider the brakes on the truck too, most trucks above 1/2 ton will have better brakes for more stopping power. I know around here there are cops who will weigh you if you look like your overloaded.
