What about the sound?
What about The Sound?

I'd say at first it seemed pretty loud, But I have been riding it for several months with the stock pipes.

After a good ride I'm starting to get a little use to them and it's nice to hear my bike while in a group of other bikers.

It is nice to roll into the throttle and know there is something their. I could ride by people on the side of the road with the stock pipes and not get noticed.(sneaker mode) With the new pipes there looking before it get their.

On the highway with the cruise on I can hear them but they are not overly loud.

Some of the best money I've spent on my bike so far.

On a ending note, I could not ride the bike with shorts on (which I don't wear short on a bike very ofter) The heat of the rear cylinder and pipe would toast my leg in no time flat. With the new set-up I can feel some warmth but not heat. So I know it has cooled the motor down. Cooler motor equates to less wear and the oil can do a better job. So the engine life span has to be better.

Thumbs up

Got my package(jackpots-pcv-ac) from fuel moto wednesday for my 2010 ultra. Install went well. Rained all day thursday, but today is dry and in the upper 40`s. Just got back from a forty mile ride and I am all smiles. These jackpots sound awesome! Bike ran great. I went with the straight cuts and they look better than I had hoped. Best money I have spent on a bike in a long time!

Ok so today I finished installing the rest of the stage one set up meaning the Power commander and the AC I had installed the Jackpot slash down slip ons earlier in the week. The AC was fairly easy and did not take a lot of time. The power commander was easy until I had the find a place to put the PCV connector that connects to the system harness. The directions say to put in front of the battery box but there is a lot of S**t crammed in there, not sure if its anti lock brake stuff. I finally took off the battery top cover and was able to wedge the connector down and reinstall the top cover on and problem solved. When I first rode the bike I noticed that I wanted to hear the pipe so I kept twisting the thottle and I really liked the way the bike runs now, I have a little flat spot if you twist it fast but I think that was there before when it was stock, thottle by wire issue, but if you roll on smooth it works really well. I have only had a couple of short twenty mile rides but am very happy so far with the out come of the entire FuelMoto set up. Thanks again for a great product that is priced very fair.

Here's another point of view on the Jackpots for whatever it's worth!

I've been trying to figure out what, if anything, I want to do with my bike in terms of intake and exhaust mods. I wouldn't mine a "little" more punch particularly at freeway cruising speeds but I'm not interested in trying to make a hot rod. That's not what Harley's are about anyway, IMO. I also wouldn't mind cooling the engine down a bit but I'm not particularly interested in taking any significant hit in fuel mileage either. I know those last two points are polar opposites but that's where it is. I know there will be compromises one way or the other. It's just a matter of figuring out which way I want to go with it.

Of all the reading I've done, I lean toward the Jackpots or the V&H Monster Ovals. Unfortunately, it's hard to get a handle on what any of them really sound like from reading other folks opinions. I've read numerous posts on both muffler systems and opinions run the gambit from way too loud to way too quiet to just right. Noise perception, like many things is very subjective and I wanted to hear for myself what these mufflers sound like in person.

Enter Texas Rapier. I noticed he's near the Beaumont, TX area and I live south of Houston. He's got FuelMoto's stage 1 modes with the new Jackpot mufflers. I PM'd him the other day and asked of we might get together so I could look at and "hear" his exhaust for myself. He was kind enough to indulge me and we met at Cowboy Harley in Beaumont this afternoon. Needless to say, I do like the look of the pipes, his are the slash downs. The quality appears to be first rate. As to the sound, I must admit the pipes were louder than I had hoped when he first fired it up but weren't bad at all once the engine settled down to idle. We took a brief ride together so I could hear what they sounded like going down the road. When we rode off, they were very noticeable during acceleration but quite reasonable at speed while cruising steady. I've got a friend with an 08 Street Glide. He's had CVO and Screaming Eagle pipes on it and I think the Jackpots are somewhere between the two in dB's at cruise. Overall, not bad and that's an opinion from someone who's definitely conservative about noise levels. At least I've got a lot better idea of what "not too quiet, not too loud" really means!

I'd like to say thanks to Texas Rapier. You were a big help and it was great meeting you. Now if I can find someone around the Houston area with the same setup only with the Monster Ovals, I think I can make a final decision.

Ride Safe,
Steve R.

Thank you for the great feedback and support. You are correct that the flat spot you are describing is the drive by wire throttle as the ECM uses this as a torque and driveline smoothing strategy. This strategy actually helps under most conditions, one are is in the throttle response which is noticably less abrupt than pre 08 bikes, where some may notice a slight slight lazyness when you blip the throttle or quickly open the throttle when not under load.

Just finished installing Jackpot slash up mufflers and I could not have asked for more. The finish is awesome, at idle it has a nice deep sound louder than stock but not so loud that you will wake up the dead in the morning. What I really like about it is that cruising on the highway you hear them but not that it drones in your head and when you twist the wick is when they bark. I am going to install a/c & pcv after 1000 mile service. So far loving Fuel Moto.
