Default Installing Kuryakyn Cruise boards question

Instead of buying highway pegs... i picked up a set of Kuryakyn cruise boards to mount on the front crash bars.....

For some reason the clamp that was supplied doesnt fit around the crash bar that well and i cant get the holes to line up in order to push the allen bolt through and tighten them down.

Is there a trick here that i'm not seeing? I just gave up because i didnt want to scratch up my crashbars trying to get these on.

When i ordered they didnt ask me what size crash bars i have -- they are stock so i didnt think i would have a prob.

HELP !!!!!!

That's funny - I had problems with mine also on an 05 Ultra. Had to really fight to get them on. Couple things.

1.) Fit the crash bars "OK" after a battle, but the shaft with the O ring clip holding the footshoe on doesn't go all the way through and it can't be clipped at the end??? It is too short - defect in design???

2.) After a couple hundred miles on these footboards, my engine started making a strange noise at 30 mph+. Almost brought it to the stealership. By accident I determined it was the cruise boards rattling. They don't seat tight enough in the down position and will rattle like crazy - sounds like a wobbly piston - I put some rubber compound on the seat to knock off the rattle.

Other than that, they're AWESOME!!!! Get a lot of looks from folks!!! And man are they COMFY!!!!

The clamps are a tight fit but with a little patience you will get the bolt started. You need a VERY small pair of snap ring pliers to get that tiny clip on the shaft. Yep, awesome and comfy!
