my only problems on my 08 SG is the rear wheel brake squeal which i thought was just my own fault due to bad braking but I'll look into it now that I know it is a "problem" but honestly its not even noticeable, just an every now and then thing when the brakes are cold. I also never liked the clutch on this thing from day one. Brand new out of the crate I felt that my clutch didn't grab as good as it should. I heard it was cause harley switched to the 96 but never beefed up the clutch since the 88 but who knows what the problem is. I have about 10k on my bike now and the clutch doesn't slip or anything but it is a noticeable problem. heres my experience.......
Solo... clutch could grab better
Solo loaded with gear.... same issue as no gear but I still want a little extra grab action.
Two up... I notice the problem a little more and at this point I really would prefer more grab action.
Two up loaded with gear... problem gets even worst.
two up starting on a hill with or with out gear............ honestly feels like the clutch slips then grabs eventually, and I'm not even beating on the bike (I gave up beating on my toys when I bought a touring bike, now I'm out there just for the ride)
Because of the reasons above I decided to just stick it out with the stock clutch as long as the problem doesn't get worst and I decided also to replace the clutch with a new set of plates (aftermarket) and install a stronger set of clutch springs. I doubt harley will take the blame for their crappy clutch and replace it under warranty so I don't even wanna bother complaining to the service department. I have read that if you replace the stock springs with screaming eagle springs (cheap fix) the problem will go away and I highly recommend trying that if you find an 08 with low miles. Unfortunately with 10k on my bike I think that option is a little late and I'll start fresh with a new setup all together. Even with these little problems I am still very glad to have purchased my bike and I have not regretted it yet. Hope this helps.

I forgot the problem about the idle..... don't touch the throttle when you turn the bike on or off and there will be no problems. It happened to me the second week I had my bike and I was able to fix it using the code thingy after calling the dealer while stopped at a gas station. Over a year later it hasn't happened again but I do watch the throttle every time I shut it down and I never use the kill switch because I feel I wanna have my hand on the throttle when I hit the button.
I have 20,000 on my 08 SG I have had 3 issues.
1. radio had to be replaced it would not reject CDS.
2. This is a strange one oil leak through the starter, replaced the starter .
3. Rear brake squeek and warped rotor had to be replaced
Even with these issues overall I love this bike and everything was covered with the warranty.
I have 21,000 miles on mine with only a couple problems. Warranty replacement of the starter clutch and rear brake squeal which I fixed with the paste. Any other problems have been self induced.
With 60,000+ member on the forum I'm sure SOMEONE has had any problem you can think of.
It didn't take more than 5000 miles of stock running for me to begin to throw thousands of dollars at the 96 in motor to make it into a satisfactory bike. Look at my sig on what all I have done, all out of pocket. But, it is more to my liking now. A heavy duty clutch spring comes with the SE 103 bore kit. Throw the light one away. At least now it will start and pull when loaded in low gear on a hill.
No fuel filter canister change out.
No ABS problems.
No fairing bracket failures yet.
No idle problems.
I havn't spent anything on the seat yet. It isn't too bad on me for a 500 mi ride.
2008 FLHR. I had the rear brake squeal problem...fixed under warranty. Had a bit of the "rear steer" bagger wobble feeling but a TWR stabilizer kit fixed that. Rock solid now. No other probs in 18000 km. I personally like the seat and see no reason to replace it. I would recommend an '08 Road King to anybody.
