Have fun setting your shocks to 10 pounds with a 300 pound guage.

My 2010 FLTRX came with zero air in the shocks... I presume that's to be expected for a new bike.

Manual says 40-50 for two up riding... does anyone find that to be a little high (I'm 180 lbs. and wife is 115 lbs.). I haven't tried different pressures yet, just curious what ya'll are finding with experience.

Just a little hint for those of you that have your own compressor. Just shut your compressor off and bleed it down to 50-60 PSI and then put what you want to into your shocks. I have done this and it seems to work fine. I'm not putting more than 50 psi of pressure into the system. I may buy a hand pump, but don't believe I need one at this point.

Are you trying to say that those people who buy this pump are too dumb to go half way to the first mark on the gauge? ;-)

The air shock debate reminds me of an old Andy Griffin show, Aunt Bee was trying to save money by having Goober fix her freezer, Andy keep telling her to "just call the man" ie the freezer repair man. The point of my post is "just buy the HD air shock pump". How much money do you think you will save, $10 or $15, hell most people on this board tip the girl at the beer tub more than that in a day.

There is no way a little pump like that can push 300 psi......right???
With my HD pump, when I get close to 40 psi each push moves about a pound on the gauge.

On a trip the Smokeys two months ago, I rode my bike, an '08 Street Glide, and my Dad rode his '09 Street glide. We both rode two up the entire time and were loaded down with gear. We had to add air to our suspensions regularly. I didn't have to add too much, just a couple of pounds per day, but my Dad had to add sometimes up to ten lbs. So, having the hand pump in our bags came in handy.

Just bought an 09 FLTR and rode from Chicago to New York with 20 LBS. psi and it was fine. I have 40 lbs. psi now in the shocks riding two up (I'm 200 lbs. and my wife is about 135 lbs.) and it rides firm but fine -- no complaints. I've left the shocks with 40 lbs. psi riding solo and its firm but still handles well.

That's right, I bought a 0-300 lbs. pump as well ,and everytime I adjusted my air pressure I found I had to use a tire gauge to double check it, just to hard to put in lets say 20 lbs. or so, just not accurate with low pressure. I ended up buying one off a ebay seller named "hcccycle", they cost 29.95, 0-60 lbs., they come from Texas with free shipping in the US....real nice pump Here's a picture of it...
