I apologise for the dumb question now!! My local dealer has put some V&H Slip-ons on my new RK Classic. Infortunately they are not aligned properly and the one on the left (As you look at the back from behind the bike) points outwards slightly. Is there a way to get thenm perfectly aligned so they point straight out the back?
I see this on a lot of HD tour bikes. Not sure why this happens. A few years back I had the same issue when my dealer installed my Slip-ons. I took it back to the dealer and they straightened them out and life was good. I guess all of them I see while I am out traveling it must not bother them. Hell, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing my pipes weren't aligned.
Its been my experience some mufflers fit better then others, not a lot you can do besides fore & aft adjustment and a shim at the rear bracket to adjust height.
Make sure they use the pipe for the right year as the 09's and later the left header pipe shifts in a little, maybe your right pipe is straight and the left is shifted in a bit.
I just installed my Supertrapp Slip Ons this weekend and have the same problem!
I would back off the bolts and try to adjust it but it keeps going back to the same spot. 3 other people looked at it and didnt notice it but I can see it and measured it and its about 1/2" off
