Thought I would mail V&H to see what they think of my wonkey ovals. This is the reply
"The stock head pipe design for the 09-10 models are routed this way and all V&H slip-ons will an offset as you described. It’s one of those quirks that H-D did when they changed the header design in 2009."
Great!! So the slip on that fits the 09, actually does, but is always wonkey if you use the stock headers. Surely that means they don't fit!? I guess the only way to remedy this is to fit the headers as well, thats OK its only more money!
I had installed V&H monster ovals on my 09 RK and the install didn't take more than 40 mins. One day my nephew was riding behind me and pointed out the the mufflers were rotated a little. I loosened up the front clamp and had a friend hold the bike straight up and I then re-tightened the front clamps. Everything looked perfect after that final adjustment. But one last problem I was having is the rubber bushing that goes over the slip-in hook that bolts to the back of the muffler kept vibrating forward and then out of the hook and would vibrate directly against the metal bag support that it slips into, so I ended up putting a 1/2" thick shim between the bag support and the muffler mounting pad, this ended my problems with adding monster ovals onto stock headpipes. There was a 1/2" difference between mounting positions from the stock to the monsters.

I had the same issue with the rubber insulators, I just reversed them and they haven't moved since.
Bob, that almost sounds as if the rubber stop tab on the rubber mount was in backwards.
Make came that way and then I had a hell of a vibration until I found it.
Nice lookin bike there.
