I got 14hp / tq for $700 bucks and I am very happy with the results. Why not ask how much money people spent for bling on their bike and was the results worth it. How much people spend on their bikes for "upgrades" is a loaded question. Because what you may determine to be spending too much for, someone else thinks that's not enough.
I spend money on improving what Harley should have done from the factory, to make the bike the way I want it to be.
98" cylinder & pistons, gear drive cams, heads worked over, roller rockers, adj. pushrods, pushrod tubes, gaskets, Pc3, fatcat. $3000.00 for the parts + $750.00 for the labor & tune. Ended up with 115hp / 110 Tq. About 40 hp increase = $93/1hp
I rather make it look good and have some nice sound as I do in my SG because at the end it is a harley and it is still an anchor no matter what you do to it....

Your correct but sometimes the look you get from someone threw their helmet on a sportbike is priceless when you out hole-shot them and beat them to 130mph on a Road king . I'm not saying all but some. I have a buddy that races fastest street bike shoot-outs with a busa turbo and holds some records . So I know what to pick on and what not to.
Lets not forget that the major world speed records are held by Harley-Davidson, and anybody watch drag racing-Harley has added a total 45 lbs. to their bikes and the rice burners still got another 250cc advantage and cannot keep up with the Hogs. Not to mention the nitro-harley's
