Default Starter Issue

Okay. My problem is 2007 RKC

Bike cold it starts fine. Once the bike starts to warm up, and you try to start it. I get a metal on metal/grinding/ stripped gear sound. I pulled the primarry cover and inspected the ring gear no damage. I am now look at the problem is either the starter clutch or the starter pinion gear or the whole starter. Battery is good and checked all cables for corrosion. Checked starter torque specs/all is good.

Any advise is welcome.

So you checked the fasteners torque per the service bulletin on issues with 07 starters? If you did and was fine, I would say it's probably the starter clutch.

I did check the torque. Book says 25 to 27 ft.lbs. I have the clutch off now and I cant see any signs obvious damge so to say. I know metal takes on a diffrent shape when heat is applied. Dawg do you have ay tell tale signs to look for in the starter clutch>

Dawg I have mine in this weekend having the starter clutch replaced. Has your Annv. had the same problem?
