HK MP3 Filenames/folders
I have an MP3 player in my truck, I burn disks using standard ISO9660, and name folders and files with numbers at the begining. 01_folder, 01_song.mp3. They play in order, and the player reads folders. This has worked on every MP3 player I have tried it on.
With the HK; it seems it does not recognize folders, and refuses to play in order when I number the filenames. I called HK, they referred me to a HD techline, they acted like I was speaking farcy. Anyone here know the best file structure to use?
I then pop this into the HK on my 2006 Ultra and ride away!! The display will show the song name (sometimes it is abbrev.) as well as the artist /band name. I have this set this way for the regular FM radio on the HK to show the title and artist of the song playing on the FM. Note some FM station do not encode this info so you will not receive this info.................It took me SEVERAL times of reading the HK section of the owners manual and testing to get this to work!!! a real pain!!
Hope this helps...............................

You need to update your radio to see the artist and title. I did it yesterday. It works fine. Here is the link to do it: http://www.harley-davidson.com/cp/moar/en/software.asp

You download a zip file and burn the contents to a cd and put it into the radio. The link explains ever step. Go for it!! Scott

For instance, when you "rip" a CD to MP3 files using iTunes, Windows Media Player, MusicMatch, or another of the zillion software packages out there, the software will try to go out to the Internet and match up the CD with the appropriate artist/song info and encode it in the MP3 file. I say TRY because #1 you may not be connected to the Internet and #2 you may be ripping a CD that does not have info available out on the Internet.
If you purchase the song online from iTunes, Napster, etc., then that file would also contain the ID information. But if you get a song from the Internet for free (like through BearShare, Morpheus, or other "file sharing" program), it may not have the info.
This is easy to check and correct (may be slightly different procedure depending on your PC's operating system):
Find the MP3 on your computer
Point to the file and click the right mouse button
Select Properties
Click on the Summary tab
I have attached a picture of what the summary tab looks like.
By the way...having this song/artist info on the stereo screen is such a huge improvement! Do the upgrade ASAP! I just wish they implemented it such that the artist/song title displayed while you searched for a song. It looks to me so far that when you are scanning for a song the display will read "Track x", but once the song starts it will display the song/artist. My car MP3 stereo will show the info while scanning...so we are 1/2 way there! But a definite improvement.

Having the MP3's on the root folder works just fine, but we are trying to determine a way for the player to go to the next level by going to sub folders as well.
Why you ask?
The root folder directory can only hold so many titles. You may still have lots of room for more songs on your CD but the root folder wont hold it. But you and put almost the same amount of files in a sub folder. (doubling the number of your songs or more it you still have room and make mor subfolders.) Most modern MP3 players reconize subfolders and know how to use them
