'07 Classic that just turned over 14,000 miles. Knock on wood, I have had zero problems. Traded in a '05 Softail and do not regret it. Like all the others have said do a stage 1 to take care of the heat issue. Redline shock proof heavy in the tranny and you are good to go.
"07 SG with 10,000 miles. The only failure experience is with the fairing brackets. They were replaced under warrenty. Harley came out with new and supposedly improved brackets. So, if you experience a failure, just make sure that they install the newer type.
The 5th gear whine is something that you get use to. I don't feel the need to spend money to eliminate it. Once I found out that it did not mean that there is something wrong with the tranny, I just accepted it. They used a spur gear instead of a helical gear for 5th.
I agree with the previous posts that state that you don't need an IDS. This bike is well balanced and handles low speed manuevers and U-turns beautifully.
I wouldn't trade mine for a 2010. I don't like the 2 into one exhausts. I feel the bikes look better from the rear with two pipes instead of one. But to each his own.
John, my froend with a 65 panhead says its the best bike hd ever met . 2007 owners say that is the best 2009 owners like yourself say theres are the best..I'm confused how can they all be the best?
i've got 37k on mine, and the only problem that i have is that damn gas tank. i fill it up, and 150 (or so) miles later, needs some gas again! can't seem to figure it out.
