ON St. Patrick's day this year, temp in the low 20s I took my son's bike from my house to his, about 45 miles, and two high mountian passes, I wore my snow pants, ski coat and insulated gloves, no throttle lock so I could never put that hand down my the exaust, that hand was numb when I got there but everything else nice and tosty, I also wore my insolated hunting boots, a fleece balaclava and full face helmet.
Now I have Gerbring heated mittens, can't wait to try them out.

Damn winter, thought I was going to have to get out the heated gear this morning, we had a northern blow in here a fews hours ago and the temp is down to 70 degrees
Lol. Yeah, I'm in Houston this week for work and you'd be putting the snow chains on if you listened to the weather man. "Gonna be down right chilly today... Highs only in the upper 70's"
The heated gloves sound great, but I am not sure about the wires. Have you used them? Are they too hot and make your hands sweat? Do they keep your finger tips warm?
I just picked up a pair of the HD heated gloves with the rechargeable battery paks... Haven't use them yet as its only in the 40's here but I will post back my review after I try em' out. They have wires in the tops of the finger area when my fingers get cold even with heated grips. I got a great deal online at 20% off, no tax and just a small shipping charge. Beets running to the local dealer to pick em' up.
I'm in MA too and things have turned pretty cool pretty quickly these past few days.
My wife runs heated grips on her Street Glide and likes'em, but she doesn't ride in truly "cold" weather either. I've been using Gerbing for a few yers now and LOVE the stuff!! I've got pants liners (used rarely), a jacket liner, and gloves, along with a dual variable controller. The controller allows me to keep the temp just right without overheating (including hands & findertips). I'm very comfy in pretty much anything. My only criticism would be related to the Gerbing controller....it's not made well and mine has cracked more than one. The dual controller made my FirstGear is made better and works with the Gerbing clothes.
We had a hard cold front pass early this morning. I had to wear a wind breaker to ride to work. It was down to 62 but warmed up nicely this afternoon. It is around 75 and sunny right now. The first sun I have seen in 2 weeks. Damn the rain.
