06 ULTRA ISSUES...
OK I go the 06... not a brand new one (rental) but an 06.
The bike has 1300 , I got the bike for 18,900 Whitch is 1200 more that the EG standard I traded.
Now to the issues....
The bike has Slash cut slip ons and said to have been upgraded (computer)
First of all... the bike sounds like the exhaust is leaking at the headers or where the mufflers attach.
When it warms up it's a bit better.
It doesn't run like the 04 standard seems sluggish or like it's running to lean.
I mean the 04 Standard I had would smoke this ultra. Does the lowers and the tourbox make
that much of a difference?
Second... I ride to work every day (not in rain) but when I make the turn on the fwy feeder and put the hammer down
I get a strong smell of oil.. I see nothing leaking and this only happens on hard acceleration.
also, the idle seems higher than the standard, and the usual harley sound isn't right.
They had to replace the radio (no display) (I think is was a internal employee swap) the radio was working just fine for as long as it was in the rental fleet
and when it came back from detail the radio was bad. and how do you know you really got the NEW radio? as long as it works...
So you thing I may have issues, or am I being just pickey

If the bike has aftermarket exhaust iit's LEAN. The SM at Carolina Harley said the 06's run right on the edge of lean from the factory. Any changes, exhaust, intake, ect. will lean them out, and the download will not fix it. You are going to have to get some kind of fuel manager. I know, I had to have the SERT installed, now it runs and sounds right.

I have a bid on some stock 04 slip ons... may fix it untill I can get the sert...
I really don't like the cracking exhaust noise.. I want a low tone with the classic harley sounding idle...
I know loud pipes saves lives but it also kills ears...
I have noticed a bit of rocker noise when cold... think they stuck some crappy oil in it?
They did the service before delivery.
somethng about the guys at mancuso, they are a bit too suspisious to me.. like you need to mark all your parts before going there...
I am a bit suspisious minded though...
You see, I have been an auto technician for 33 years, ASE Certified Master, altho I haven't worked on harleys but it's still an internal combustion engine
and I have an ear for it.
Is there a idle setting or is it controlled by the computer??
If I was to buy a pc111 can I adjust pulse width on the injectors?
And is the thing with the #8's change to #25's something they should do as a recall?
I know LEAN CREATES HEAT and kills an engine...
One last question, I have tried to run the vin# of this bike to obtain a history of repairs and or accidents, (there is nothing visual but you never know)
You would thing if this was a rental I would be offered maintance records and such... but got nothing...
It's an issue
the radio on the 06's has many problems one of which is that the screen goes blank shortly after the radio gets a bath I'm on my 2nd but one guy posted that he was on #5 so get ready.
the 07 radio is supposed to be an improvement but we'll see.
use Roxio to download mp3 or that will give you issues too.
