Thumbs up

No problems here but I'm only a couple weeks into the change. A little more mechanical noise and a different exhaust note. As far as gas mileage goes... who knows, its been all over the map since I bought the bike new.

No problems here with the cam install. I did have to install the SE high performance clutch spring to keep the clutch from slipping and I have increased valve train noise that sometime bugs me.

Whitedogg, I've always thought the clutch was sort of 'buttery' on my SG. Is the clutch lever pull still tolerable with the new spring?

Very tolerable. It is stiffer than stock but not horrible. After I installed the cams, I could jump on the throttle at any speed and any gear and the clutch would break loose - rpm's would jump way up. I switched from amsoil in the primary and changed out the clutch spring and problem was solved.

Several months ago someone mentioned objectionably high top-end noise and mentioned he had used non-tapered adjustable pushrods on his build. At that time he said he would be trying the tapered adjustables in search of a way to quieten-down the noise. Was that you and if so did you make that change?

I can barely hear any valve-train noise on my bike with my helmet on, only slightly if any more noticeable than stock, but when I remove the helmet I can hear the top-end more readily. I can't say how much it compares to stock since I don't think I ever rode the bike without a helmet in stock form. Several friends who own stock-cammed bikes have listened to mine at idle and said that it is a bit "clickier" but not much. I expected some increased top-end noise because of the higher lift on the lobes but didn't get it, at least not to the extent that I anticipated.

The exhaust tone is different, too, not the "potato-potato" I had hoped for--and as I mentioned earlier the exhaust volume is higher. It's enough higher to prompt me to order one step smaller baffles for the Jackpots (2" down to 1.75"), which I did. That helped and didn't alter the performance any that I could tell.

Regarding the clutch slippage, you're the first I've heard who's had this problem. The stock clutches theoretically can handle ~110 ft/lbs of torque, which is at least 10% above that which you will encounter with TC96 and no other mods.

That's not a problem with the cam. That's a problem with your overly strong wrist muscles.
