what kind of answer you looking for? if it has seems, its going to leak...mine leaks but not pissin like you say. just a little damp on my left thigh
what he'd like to know is if any one complained to harley and if they did anything about it. you would think that they would put a waterproof membrane or something between the vinyl and the foam( the foam gets sopping wet ). i just bought my first harley, but i previously owned jap bikes and never had this problem. when you go on trips you can't help parking outdoors and sometimes in the rain. haven't got caught in the rain with mine yet, i hope when i do i won't have this problem, riding all day on a wet seat is bad for butt rash!!!!
If this is a common problem, I'm really surprised there haven't been more complaints about it on this forum. I've never had the issue with my '08 or any other bikes (even ones with buttons in the seat).
The bee's wax should work to seal the seams but IMO should not be necessary. Have him check with another dealer, take it in when the seat is wet.
I have an 09 Road Glide and wrap my seat with a black plastic trash bag when I park outside. The price is right and it works well to keep dew, cats, rain and curious bike sitters off of your ride.
Maybe adapt a Jap bike seat to his Harley, that will fix it! They sell rain covers for the seats in the HD accessory catalog, that ought to tell you something now shouldn't it.
We have been sealing the seats seams on the inside of the cover with silicone upon request.
The stock covers are vinyl but vinyl is not pourous as previously mentioned, the seams are the problem. HD does put a thin plastic sheeting over the seats but the back side of the cover is a cloth like backing and will soak up water and sometimes when the covers are put on the seats the plastic gets pulled out of place and leaves a good amount of foam unprotected and foam is like a sponge and will soak up the water, we have had seats that has taken days to dry out before.
Silicone spray the type you would use to waterproof a tent look at Wally World
I used that stuff on my cover. Bled through and discolored my fairing bra. I would try a small amount on the seat first or you WILL end up with a funny looking buttrest.

I have had mine pissin wet before. After I treated the seams with the Doc Baileys it was only damp wet. Shouldnt be either though, especially for what theser seats cost us......btw mine is a Sunddowner not the stock.

I dont know about the Jap bike seat BS. I also have a Shadow Ace 750 and it's foam gets just as wet. So did my Ninja's seat before I recovered it in pigskin and treated it.
