I recently purchased a SE muffler end cap from Chicago HD for my 2005 Road Glide. Chrome Billet End Cap Double Groove 65066-01A. It's my understanding that the original end cap (and SE muffler) is obsolete and this is a replacement. I am having a problem installing the end cap. It appears that the forward flange of the endcap is thicker and longer than the one that I am taking off. I tried filing down the end but that hasen't worked. My next step may be to start gringing away on the flange. Any other thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!
Several dealers in the US still have the -01 pn# on hand even though it's obsolete. The other thing is the Rush makes endcaps to fit the old and new SE mufflers. If you don't have luck with fitting yours you can always buy the older obsolete one or replace both with ones from Rush.
There is at least 3 types of end caps for the SE mufflers, maybe more.
The newer end caps are for 4 inch cans. I ran across this as I had a older style SE mufflers and tried to fit them to my newer SE mufflers, the cans were 2 different sizes. My problem was the opposite of your problem. Although there was only a slight difference it did not look right.
