I bought my wife a used 2008 Heritage from an individual back in Sept. and it has a factory warranty good till 2013 on it. Does anyone know what I have to do,or how to get the warranty changed over in to my name? I am asking because the chrome is starting to pit in some places and I was thinking of trying to get it fixed as a warranty issue. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks guys
So in other words I am screwed, the bike now has no factory warranty?
duh..you have the factory 2 year warranty maybe....if you lolligagged for more then the 30 days to transfer the ext. warranty you are screwed. what don't you get? ahh forget it
When I bought my bike 3 weeks ago I called HD and they said the warranty follows the bike. So if there is an extended warranty than forms need to be filled out?

Well leo,i did lolligag because I did not know I needed to do anything about the warranty till just the other day. I just assumed that the warranty would follow the bike for as long as it was purchased for.
try getting in touch with the guy who sold it to you and change the date on the bill of sale...no fowl no harm, or just change it yourself...don't let the moco screw you out of the warranty
When I bought mine...stopped in at Harley shop and the service guy did the transfer for me online...bill of sale should be all you need and they punch in the ser#
I went through the same thing about a year ago. The dealer that the previous owner purchased the bike from. Gave me bad information about there being a time limit on the transfer. Then when I went into the dealer 45 days after the title tranfer they changed thier tune and told me I was to late. Of course this pissed me off. My thinking was that they just wanted my money if there were any repairs instead of it being warranty work.
I called HD and explained that the dealer told me that there was NOT a time frame to transfer the extended warranty. I wasn't nasty and I didn't complain about the dealer. I just stated the facts to them. They told me to get the form in as quickly as possible and they would handle it. I filled it out, and dropped it into the mail to them. She also asked me to scan it and sent it to them in an email. Within about 3 weeks, I received the extended warranty in the mail in my name.
Give them a call, explain the situation to them. YOu just never know what they might do for you. Let us know what happens.
