i found my 07 ultra need more speed to shift to 6th (easier to lug)...than my 09 sg....my 09 sg can accelerate w/o lug the engine at 100 kmh (60mph)......any different on the ratio maybe???
Manual says after 55...
Depending on the road and conditions I usually wait till around 60-65 if I am in fuel conservation mode...otherwise I leave it in 5th alot for performance up to around 70-75 before I shift.
Don't get too technical, unless of course that is what makes riding fun for you. Me, I like to just ride and shift by feel mostly.
When I am not riding I also sit around wishing I had a stereo on my bike...when I am riding I don't think of it at all...the wind is my music and my ADD personality plays lots of songs as well..any song, anytime...

Don't know if you wear a helmet or not. But if you want to listen to music sometimes while riding you can use an Ipod. I have a half helmet with zip out ear covers. On a trip I put the ear covers on and my Ipod in my pocket and run the ear plugs under my shirt or jacket. Great sound, good music, and can hear easily above the wind noise.
