LOL Probaly won't cover cam shoe adjuster failure,a normal wear item that
requires inspection. Kind of like never changing your oil.
interesting point - I will comfirm with service manager tomorrow.... I will let you know what he says.. I have a pretty good working relationship with this person.. shoots pretty straight with info
I have looked into this for my 03 Dyna. I understand the hydraulic conversion is 'fit and forget', but if there is no need to disturb things, beyond checks of the originals, then leave it until it needs to be done. But a major upgrade at any time would be the right time!
my service manager says IF the shoes start to come apart and causing noise or other issues AND I have the HD ext warr - all is covered - minus ded of course..
I replaced mine with another set of spring loaded ones. Put SE 203s in as well. Now I wish I went with the gear drive. I plan on keeping the bike for a very long time.
you don't have to but it would be wise. But because of HD's notoriously low oil pressure,
I would also invest in a better oil pump.
The upgraded cam plate has no outer bearings. Relies on oil film to keep from seizing.
I did the upgrade with HD parts, but used a fueling oil pump (I also added performance Andrews cams while there) I think because of the deals I got, I spent about $400 on all the parts.
I find the bike starts easier and quicker (less pressure on cam chain), revs faster too.
But that could be the better cams. Have about 15 psi oil pressure at warm idle and 40 psi at warm cruise. Way better than stock.

On my FLTR I did the Feuling oil pump and Feuling Cam Plate when doing the gear drive and Andrews Cams,
