I just put a GDO in a soft toolbag on the front of my NT. I can feel the button through the leather and it works fine. On the EG I just have one in one of my windshield pouches. So far so good.
Talked about getting one but decided against it after reading how hard it was to install. Garage door opener in my windshield bag was fine. Unfortunately I didn't share the latter with the wife so she got me one for Christmas.
What could I do. It was a mother to install having to remove the gas tank and all. Plus the instructions tell you to remove the whole fuse panel to wire it which fortunately I learned wasn't necessary.
After using it for a few days I fell in love with it and forgot the install aggravation. No need to stop the bike and dig in the windshield bag for the opener. Flash the high beams and the door magically opens.
I had one on my 06 street glide no problems and now on my 09 street glide and they work great. In fact if somebody is interested in just the receiver let me know its brand new and still in the box. Its harleys receiver.
