I'm about to send out a lot of parts to be powder coated black, for my 09 Ultra. The bars are Wild 1 575's, which are satin black from their factory. As you're aware, the HD switch housings are satin black. I also have HD levers, and mirrors in satin black. I was going to powder coat everything gloss black.
Should I powder coat everything satin black to match the few things that I have, do everything gloss and leave those few parts as is, or go through the hassle of taking off internally wired bars, and send them out with all the other parts, and make it all glossy.
Last option would be to spray paint the bars, mirrors, and switch housings gloss black, and powder coat everything else gloss.
Aces make sure ya post pics when ya get er done, my opinion is if you have denim paint flat powder works if ya have gloss paint then gloss works best..I went all gloss except for the pipes being ceramic coated
I broke my powdercoating up on my '09 RG.
Everything outside the engine area I did in gloss black.
All the engine/trans/primary parts I did in the same black textured finish that the motor is colored.
That powder color is called "Asphalt" and made by Tiger Dryloc.
I found a really slick facility in Gallatin TN, called Competition Powder Coaters. It's a really big operation...they do a lot of stuff for manufacturers like Mack Truck....there are 2 sides to the place---one has very large ovens, and the other side is for smaller jobs, like motorcycle parts, wheels, etc. The prices are supposed to be very reasonable...I'm taking a load of parts there tomorrow, and i'll post the prices when I get back. I have a buddy who lives in that town, and he has a vast collection of hot rods (18 of them), and he uses these guys for all his powder coating.
Not yet.
I have the motor apart for the HQ 107" ST build.
Those parts are on their way back to me.
Soon as I get the motor back together and can roll it out the garage, I'll take pics.
I should have pics 2 weeks from today, at the latest.
