Default Jiffystand?

Will a 2007+ Jiffystand swap with my sloppy 2006 and older type? 2007+ looks like a tighter design? Who is the stand expert around here?

It should as they were changed for the '09 model year.

The '07 stand is the same design as the '06 to my knowledge. Don't know how yours got to be so "sloppy" but if you're referring to how the bike can move forward slightly while on the stand I can tell you they've done that forever and the jiffy stand is trustworthy.

I'll bet that the current 09 is longer than previous years due to change in frame height. My though is that early deliveries has used the older length and caused the bike to lean at a more severe angle. Seems to be reasonable to think that 08 and older are the same.

I think the actual jiffy bar (leg) is the same across the board. The 09s+ have a different jiffy mount. The thing that attaches to the frame. It's angled different.

And Yes, the 06 and 07 jiffy stands are the same. The sloppiness is part of the design but you'll be hard pressed to find a better jiffy/kick stand. If you look at it closely you notice the thing is sloted/keyed at the top. Once the thing locks in there is no way in hell the bike is going anywhere. It will roll forwards and backwards depending on angle but it's never going to unlock causing the bike to fall down. Metric kickstands...not so much. You can roll one off its stand if you at parking like downhill.

IP, that makes sense. Probably less costly to change attachment design and retain the common stand.

Yeah and you called it about it having to be different in some way for the 09s+ because of the new frame. That was actually a problem on some of the early 09s including mine. It came with the 08 and below mount. The bike was way way leaned over. Pretty noticable. HD changed it out for free of course.

Take care.

I'm sure the 07 up stands are different. The ramp for the tab to slide into is deeper and tighter, and seems to address the feeling that the bike is drifting forward after you put the stand down. You can see the difference in stand by looking for a pin which connects the top of the older style and the newer does not have athat cross pin.
