I think it is your glasses that make you goofy, not your helmet Just joking. You look fine, do not worry about what other people say, and I am sure the people who are making these comments probably do not even ride.
As mentioned you've either not worn a helmet over a significant period of riding time or you are a new rider and obsessing about things that don't matter. I mean why else would you post this very topic more than once? If the latter is true, I've found over time that looks matter far less than comfort and safety, and thats not to say that I don't like cool looks, but mostly on the bike, not me. I think the whole half helmet, beanie look is getting very tired personally.
By the way, gotta ask, were you a big fan of Speed Racer when you were a kid?...That helmet is HUGE!
You are a grown man. Do what you want to do and wear what you want to wear... Dont worry about what other people say. Protect your head the way you want to and ride the scooter till the wheels come off...
The extra thickness is a crush zone, something beanies lack. On impact, styrofoam gets damaged, absorbing some of the energy that would otherwise be damaging your brain. For that to work, the styrofoam needs to be thick.
I happen to like the way that helmet looks, but prefer a 3/4 helmet myself. When I put on my Hd Ultra Jet helmet with the sun visor attatched my wife says I look like.....and anybody old enough to remember "The Flintstones" will recognize this..... "The Great Kazoo". Even my 22 year old son gets in on it yelling KAZOO! every damn time I put it on. Now I just wear the flip-shield. Screw that Kazoo ****!
OK, this may seem like a joke, but it's really a serious post.
In the past few days, I've heard no less than 4 comments about my helmet / head.
I've heard:
That's a pretty big helmet.
Is that helmet "heavy"? It looks kinda "round and heavy"
How come you don't wear those cool-looking helmets that seem much smaller?
Did you always wear that helmet? I thought it was smaller.
I know I brought up the "mushroom thing" before...but seriously, do I look THAT goofy?
