Not trying to come off as a bad azz, we've been together since we were both Freshmen in college, lots of years. I'm 34 and yes blessed, I work hard for my money just like everyone else here, but it seems that a healthy marriage is a happy marriage. She trusts me as I do her. Wife does not even ride, but respects the fact that I enjoy a bike and that it makes me happy and never questions what I spend, nor do I question what she spends. Just don't get the fact that if the money is there, why sweat it? Spend it or the kids will.
Hey bro, scared money don't win shiat, I know what she's doing, taking care of the kids and waiting for big poppa to get home. You needed a better lawyer, me thinks.
Me and my wife make very good money but neither of us is going to go out and just spend 4 G's and not let the other know about it and have some discussions about it first. To me it is a mutual respect situation.
And I am not saying that others dont have a mutual respsect for each other...
I say just talk to her about it and come to a meeting of the minds...
I got such a kick out of this that I had to share it with my wife. She had a good laugh from all the testosterone oozing from this thread.
She said she respects the reply from mrgohs.
I'm just hoping I can pick up a few tips to use on her.[sm=icon_rock.gif]

If you want a "girl's" point of view.... I'd say... just discuss it, reason it out (pro's and con's). If you are in a situation where $4000 for a toy wouldn't cause excess financial burden, then she might compromise on how your collective household money is spent. There is ususally a way to do things you REEAALLLYY REEAALLLY want. You might just manage to swing it.
Remember guys, the wife ususally carries the voice of reason ... I REPEAT! ususally, NOT always! If she has a closet full of shoes, for instance (which incidentally could collectively add up to thousands of $$$), you might have some reasoning power... if YOU on the other hand ... have a shop full of unused power tools ... you might have a fight on your hands. LOL
If you, as a family, can't cope with that financial burden and the excess pressure will cause a rift between you and your wife ... not to mention, sleeping on the couch for weeks or starvation ... it might NOT be a good idea. If you can swing it, she just might realize just how much this means to you and support the idea.
For those of you who think the MAN is the primary bread winner in all households, and should have the higher authority about how all finances should be handled.... Remember: just how busy the divorce and bankruptcy courts are in the world today.
Never under estimate the power of reason and common sense.
If you're not taking from the mortgage, college fund, IRA, or straining the budget go ahead. But I would tell her first. If you do it on the sneak, that will make you look cowardly. If your wife asks you, "do you really NEED that?" say yes, as bad as a women NEEDS diamonds.....Just kidding. Be honest, tell her it's simply a recreational thing, enhancing you're bike's performance. I suppose you could embellish a little by building it up as cleaning up the emissions, improving fuel efficiency (all true by the way) and so forth. She may not like it at first, but will eventually just let it go. BTW, take her out to dinner. And I don't mean at a crummy diner.
