I have a 2006 EG Std. I want to chrome the polished aluminum parts as opposed to buying new covers. The polished aluminum is kind of boring compared to chrome. Can chrome be applied to aluminum or do I need to change covers? Any info?
I believe you will find that it is easier and not much difference in price to either get a full chrome set or piecemeal together. Less down time that way also. Lots of folks are switching to black or powdercoating the polished ones and take off their chrome. I just did that and swapped out all my chrome engine covers except for the rockers. I will be doing the rockers later on when I do a 103. You can find primary covers and whatnot on ebay. I think you will find that the cost of chroming is quite a bit. Browns down south does good work if you do end up going that route.
When at the barber shop as a kid my mom would tell the barber to make it look good and my dad would reply immediately with ..

If aluminum is polished and maitained properly it can look every bit as good as chrome, to many it is even better. Like aome have already said, it's probably cheaper to just buy the parts already chromed.
Maple Leaf Hog...
I have several takeoff chrome pieces that I'd entertain an offer/trade for.
The engine parts are from a '09 RG with 1400 miles.
The trans cover is from a '06 SG.
Here is what I have:
Upper/Lower Rocker Boxes
Tappet Blocks
Cam Cover
Pushrod Tubes (although I think yours are already chrome)
Trans Side Cover
You'd need to get:
Trans Top Cover
Primary Cover
I see you're in Canada so it may not be feasible with shipping costs.
