I know I seen several instances of some forum contributor post several pics showing the fairing off a RG. I've hunted and pecked around and done a couple searches but cant seem to find any examples.
Can someone point me to a good thread that illustrates the fairing removal? I'm about to install the Dakota Digital instrument package - all 6 gauges. Any threat for bulb replacement, stereo work, gauges etc etc would be good.
pick up a service manuel it comes in handy. anyway start by putting something over front fender, remove signal lights, remove six screws on inside three on each side, lift up fairing from bottom center, remove electrical connections from headlights they are side squeeze connectors, it is a lot easier to install if you take out headlights. i don't think i left out anything, but it's been a while since i had mine apart.
Just be careful where you set the fairing once you take it off. It is really light and the wind can easily blow it over and scratch up the paint/windshield. Don't ask me how I know.
Stryke1, I won't ask how but it really sucks that that unfortunate combo of circumstances could exist and result in a scratched fairing. I would have cried.
