Hauled two Ultras and know these are a bit wider than yours, would not go below 7 by 14 feet, and tandem axles. Will allow you a little wiggle room which you like. no scratches please.

Well, my preference is an enclosed trailer, low center of gravity like a car hauler and a tandem axle to eliminate the bounce of a single axle. You are packing about 1600 lbs approx so a 3500 lb trailer would be 'bout right. A unit like this in Canada sells new for about 4500 bucks, you could prolly trim down to an open single axle trailer for about 2000 that'll move your bikes out west.

If either bike has a Tour Pak then you'll need more than 8 feet in length to close the tailgate. I'd get at least 6 feet in width. Had to trailer my Ultra home when I bought it and had to leave the gate off because my trailer was only 8 feet long. Missed closing by just a few inches.

A 12' trailer will easily accomodate two full sized dressers with the proper stagger.

+1 on the 7x14 for 2 baggers. I have a true-V 8x12 (the nose gives a ton of room & better gas mileage) I get a RKC and RG in w/ no problem. We stagger them a bit. You can probably do it pretty easily in a 7x12 though if you're careful. I really like that extra foot inside though...you don't want the fairing/bars/mirror to be closer than 3" to the wall (or to the other bike for that matter) because of the bikes moving a bit. Being able to stand up inside is a major bonus too. 8.5 mpg with an Escalade.

As far as the axle...wouldn't consider anything less than a 2 axle with trailer brakes. First time I ever pulled the bikes, I was trailering 3 bikes on a rented, open, 7x14 trailer. We were running about 80 mph and had a blowout on the trailer...barely felt it...heard something & saw tire tread flying in the mirror and though wtf? Pulled over and realized it was our tire! I shutter to think what would have happened had we only had 1 axle! Not worth chancing it with a single axle IMO.

Get a 7x14 rounded tandem flipped axles.Add a bunk,an awning, screen in the ramp door. You will use it lots.Only $1000 more to go first class. One thing about a trailer. You can store bikes in them at home and have more room in the garage.
