Default Exhaust Advice

Hi All,
I just bought a 2010 RK classic from military overseas sales, and I haven't picked it up yet. I am undecided on what exhaust to put on the bike, and would like to hear suggestions from those of you who have touring bikes already. I'd like something that looks sharp, and gives a boost in power.
Thanks in advance,

Dylan

Default 2010 Exhaust

Best exhaust design:
2into1 - Pick one that you like the looks of and tune it with a TTS Mastertune. Either you can educate yourself to tune it using "V-Tune" software that comes with the MAstertune or take it to a competent, expereinced tuner. The Thunderheader for 2010 is available and works sounds great. If noise level is a concern I reccommend the Supertrapp Supermeg because the noise level can be just a bit over stock with disks without hurting too much power.

Other than a good 2into1 system, the Rinehart tru-dual system is probably the most popular. There are a few others for the 2010 available. Rineharts are probably the most popular.
NOTE: You wll give up a bit of low end torque with tru-duals, except the new Thunderheader tru-duals because it incorporates a balance tube between the front and rear cylinders that semi-mimic a 2into1 system.

HTH,
Bob

I'd recommend riding it for awhile. The 2010 exhausts sound better than their predecessors (I think they are straight-thru?), IMHO. I've always been one to do the quick change-out, as well, but there is something to be said about being able to hear when cruising the hiways.

As far as the HP boost, dropping into a lower gear is much more effective, and is free.

Yeah, I liked the sound of the Ovals on my RK and the Supertrapps on my EGC, but I'm gonna stay with stock for at least a little while!

I agree. There is no way I'd spend money on a 2 into 1 without first seeing how the 2010 pipes performed. I have heard good about the newer pipes. (And I am even biased towards a 2 into 1). LOL

Try a good flowing air filter with the current pipes, and see how you like it.

Thumbs up

I would ride it stock at first, but if you think you would like a little more sound and power after that, I would give a hard look at fuel moto`s package. When I first got my 2010 ultra I thought the pipes sounded pretty good for a stocker, but I still wanted a little more sound and performance. I ended up with fuel moto`s power package (jackpots-pcv-ac) I have spent plenty of money in the past on my various harleys, but this is by far the best bang for the buck. At least to me the sound is perfect and the extra power is notable, not to mention the ease of installation. Good luck and happy trails with your new ride.

the stock 2010 pipes have catalyst in the headpipe they run very hot and im guessin that makes them a bit restricted as well.

Thanks for all the advice. I do plan to ride it for a while to get a feel for the bike before adding anything, except maybe a high flow air cleaner.
Does anyone have any opinions about the vance and hines power duals? They look like a 2 into 1 into 2 configuration. I do like having two pipes, but have read of the power advantages to a 2 into 1. On the surface this seems like a viable setup. Thoughts?

Do yourself a favor and check out Fuel Moto, they'll hook ya up. If you have disposable income go talk to Roland Sands or Jesse James or Exile they'd love to take your bread. If your an educated consumer yet not a tight wad call Jaime at Fuel Moto. To me they are what the industry standard should be. Great product, service and they've done all the work for you. Simple install and if you have a problem Jamie himself will talk to you. I seriously wonder why anyone would go anywhere else.

+1 for talking to Jamie at FuelMoto after you ride it stock for a while to decide what your new scoot is lacking and what direction you want to go.

I personally prefer a 2-1 pipe for performance. Many prefer the 2-2 looks. SuperTrapp 2-1 with a Power Commander 5 (a.k.a. PCV) is a great combo for big usable torque gains in the lower and mid rpm range.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...ght=supertrapp

The above thread has some pictures of the ST 2-1. If the link above does not work, do a user name search for "Tytanium" and look for the threat labeled "SuperTrapp 2-1 Supermeg and PCV"

Greetings;

Everything Bob said, above, was said almost word for word to me by the premier performance folks in the country (Baisly, Branch O'Keefe, etc).

2-into-1 makes the most power and torque. Further, any of the 2-into-1 pipes made by the reputable manufacturers are about equally as good performance wise. I'd recommend you listen to as many as you can before buying to pick the sound you like best.
