Default skid plates??

Anyone making skid plates for saddle bags that run the length of the bag and have a lip to protect the outer edge? Milwaukee baggers have some with the lip, but aren't full length. Bad dad has full length ones, but without a lip. I'm looking for a thin plate, not like some of the ones that are 1/2 inch thick.

Not to sound arrogant, but why do we need skid plates on our bags?

I think it's for those who do NOT have rear crash bars on their touring bike.

I just got 4 inch stretched bags. I don't want to scrape them all to hell if I hit the twisties too hard. Not to mention, I have a dip where my driveway meets the road. I wasn't paying attention the other day and drug the rear bottom edge of the bag. Looking to help protect my investment.

Call nick at Milwaukee baggers he maybe able to make them longer for you. The material comes in a sheet all he would have to do is change the cut off length

Bad Dad sells some skids too. I looked at Milwaukee Baggers and liked the lip. I did not feel either place had skids that were worth the price. I had access to a sheet metal brake at work, cut some steel about an inch longer than the bags, put a 90 degree bend on one side about 1/8" high to create the lip. I took the skids home and lined them up on the bags, scribbed lines front and back to follow the countour and set length. Took the steel and cut it on a bandsaw, cleaned it up on a belt sander, drilled 2 holes for mounting to the bags, and primed and painted them black to match my bags. Mounted them with 2 stainless button head allen bolts with nylocks, buttons on bottom, nuts inside bags. I have complete protection length of bag and along the outter edge plus 1/8". They are hardly noticeable. Think I made them 2" wide on the bottom edges. Find ya a sheet metal shop and make your own!

Good Luck

I have been looking for a couple years and have not found any. I plan to make my own. Yes, I dropped my bike and they would have saved my bag.
