When I brought the T/P I didn't have the hardware and I wanted to get to the painter, due to the long wait to get it painted and I was mistaken that it will be easy to do... (WRONG!) In retro, I should've waited and did a mock install first, I did the mock install on my front fairing before painting. Live and learn.
Contrary to the above post, I am a flame guy, and I love it. It looks great. You won't have any trouble mounting it, and I think the custom hinges will look hot with the match lock on the other side. You'll be fine drilling it, just measure 3-4 times, mark, measure once more, and the start with a little, very small, drill bit. Buy a new one to ensure it's sharp, and you won't have any problems. The BLUE masking tape is a must. I drilled the top of my tourpak to mount the rack and it went smooth. Good luck, and I'm looking forward to seeing it once you've got her done.
Q Hog after reading what pingman said (I was going the stainless bolt route also) I found this, it might be what I try, it's cheap enough Thanks harleypingman for the heads up!
this may be a dumb question but why didn't you drill all your holes and do a mock fit up before u had it painted. . easier to fix a problem before paint than after?
That is a very nice tour pack. Not just the paint job. I like the lines. Where did you get it?
I would have told you to mount it/drill all mounting holes prior to having it painted just in case you scuffed something up but I think that ship has sailed.
