Yachtman - This statement has me concerned "I was shockingly surprised how much I had to move the top of the motor to the right to get the tire/disc plumb" going off memory I thought once the alignment was adjusted left to right (lower adjuster) that the adjuster between the jugs was adjusted so the bolt smoothly falls in?? I could be wrong.

Have you rode the bike yet and how is the vibration???

Mainshaft,

Thanks for your concern. I was really freaking concerned!!

I used the book's drop-in method and that put the top back almost where it was. The stabilzers, top and bottom, are new and the top is off a little from the old but that's totally understandable.

The manual, my '01 manual, pg 2-24, paragraph 11, is questionable. How can you lift the rear of the bike and expect two straghtedges to touch the tire, let alone that the lift is in the way.

Also, if you put the front tire in the vice and get it plumbed, if the bike is not 100% straight, then the rear will be off, no? And you can't put a straight edge from the front tire to the rea in this case either becase the vice/mount will also be in the way.

Also, I would think that trying to get the rear wheel/disc plumb would require the bike itseft to be level, or the adjustments would be off.

I looked at the glie-pro.com web site and there are some video of alignments and motor mount installs. Check it and let me know what your opinion is of his methods.

And then there is the string method. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

So please keep in mind that I'm doing this type of maintenance /repair for the first time, ever.

I'll be riding it later today and will let you know what happens.

Thanks again, and I'll still take any suggestions.

why is everbody makin it seem like rocket science... its a motorcycle and a belt or chain... measure pretty close and ride... most belts tend to swap sides when backing up bike... we dont ride um backwards ,so whats the problem... ride safe

Default Belt/Alignment/Vibration Question???

IMROTTEN3,

At this point the belt isn't an issue. But the vibration/alignment issue, well................ Maybe the Thread title should have been 'Vibration Issue', which probably wouldn't have gotten much attention. I tried to change the original Thread Title but it wont allow me to.

What Mainshaft, King Cubed, and Jacks are nice enough to be trying to help me with is the alignment. Maybe that's what's creating this very annoying vibration problem.

I'll bet that if you came over to my house and rode my bike you'd agree and say "damn! That would kill my 2 hour ride!"

I'm sure that there are riders out there thinking that this guy is nuts and 'just go riding'. I haven't stopped riding. But I'm also sure that if some our more accomplished riders and long time techs were having this vibration, they'd also be hunting down this damn vibration and asking for help here on this forum.

Maybe I should have a seat problem, or a windshield problem or ask which oil to use!!?!?? Or mufflers??

What really pisses me off is how the 'Smile List' keeps changing positions! That woulld be a new one, yes????????????
