For those that have a detachable sissy bar and detachable classic luggage rack:
is it possible for the sissybar to fit into the docking hardware for the luggage rack? If it is not, what would the modification have to be on the docking hardware, such as: "the space of the mounting points need to be further apart or closer together"
What I want to do is...buy the mount/docking hardware and a used sissy bar, just for the actual mounting plates and disconnect. I want to fab my own rack. if the sissy bar's plates line up with the mounting hardware....this will be a snap to fab! Used sissy'g go for a lot less than used racks.....then I will powdercoat the finished product.
There are luggage racks made to fit onto the detachable sissy bar uprights. Have you thought about fabbing a rack and maybe cutting off the top of the upright or something if you don't want the sissy bar? Just throwing out ideas for ya.
yea...i thought of that too...I made one like that for my suzuki....i just didn't want the hastle of a "less than easy" removal method...course...If I found a detachable sissy cheap...I could build a rack like that and just swap out sissy assemblies...hey...yea...that's an Idea....thanks!!
