Default ThunderHeader

Got my "new 2 me" pipe on and D*MNNN, it's the loudest muffler I've ever heard. I had one on my Lowrider and it was perfect, but this thing is freakishly loud when I twist on it. Any ideas as to why such a difference? It has a nice sound at idle and just cruising but I'm afraid I'll be attracting too much of the wrong attention(fuzz) when I ride with my buddies. Anybody ever tried to muffle this muffler before? I'm tempted to install a Big City Thunder in the front of the slip-on.

I love mine. It is not the slip on type however. It's the headpipe and all. I don't think I've ever heard a thunderheader slipon. Maybe they are louder?

My TH are slip ons and I love them. I am guessing that maybe your low rider was an 88" and your new bike is a 96"? We I did my HQ upgrade my pipes hit noticably harder.

Yeah, 88 and carb'ed. I wondered about the size and fuel injection too.

Had a TH on my Night Train, loved the sound (the BEST as far as my opinion goes) and, yes, it get's tiresome for an extended length of time. More for a bar hopper than a Touring bike. But I STILL love the sound when a bike with one rolls by.

Sounds like you need to just learn how to lay low. Pipe is not the problem, generally it's the link between the seat and the right hand.
