Default Roadglide handlebars...ugh!

So while Mama was doing the demo thing on the Heritage yesterday I talked the dealer into letting me grab a bike to ride along. He had a Roadglide sitting there so I jumped on it. After about 15 miles my neck and back were so sore I couldn't wait to get off...how do you RG riders do it? And I think I like my batwing even better now...bigtime buffeting!

Everyone is different. With the stock bars, I got a little pain in the middle of my back right between my shoulder blades. I changed them out to black heritage bars and its all good now. I never understand people complaining about wind buffeting with the RG. Even in stock form I never had any issues. The only reason I changed the stock shield is because I like the looks of the Cee Bailey SSC better.

Complaints about bars come from many people regarding every bike you can name. Some will like stock bars on any given bike, but we're all so different in sizes and shapes that changes to bars are pretty much to be expected for most people with any bike.

With my 2010 Road Glide Custom, I would prefer the bars about 1" closer to me as my Mustang seat puts me about an inch farther back than stock. I had to change the bars on my Road King Custom as well, and once I did, the feel was fantastic. Same with this bike as with most.

As for the buffeting... again, different sizes, different seats giving different positions, different choices in helmets, etc. will create different experiences for different people. I'm 6'1", 180 lbs. and prefer a full face helmet. For me, the low, stock windscreen is just perfect for me. No buffeting, just the nice feel of the wind that I love. And a wide open, unobstructed, beautiful view of the road and world ahead. I love it! And wouldn't want any other bike in trade for this one.

Everybody is different. The handle bars fit me perfectly. Thats why there are different models made; we all can choose what suits us.

Amen, I agree 100%. I'm 6' and 185 lbs and no issues at all with buffeting on the RG. I love the RG and to me there really isn't another choice, but the good thing is Harley makes others to choose from for the people who can't get past looks

It's just a fact. If you buy a Harley you have to spend at least another $1000 to make it yours. Pipes, seat, shield, chrome piece. If you don't have to do that you're lucky. They should list that on the price tag hanging from the bars on new bikes. "$1,000. misc. items you may want'. Some dealers are giving $1,000 gift card with the purchase of a new bike. I got that deal with my '07 but didn't get it with my '10.

RG..."the ugly bike" with lots of choices of windshields. No buffeting now.
