I hope to be able to afford the FuelMoto package sometime in the near future. Have yet to hear anything bad about it or FuelMoto and the Woods cams in the package sound like they may be better than the SE 255's I was considering before.

I put a set of HQ500's in my 96 last winter to compliment the FatCat, air cleaner and SERT that I already had, all I can say is it was worth every penny, it sounds racey now and it really hauls.
It improved the HP and Torque over the whole RPM range and doesn't crap out like a lot of cams out there.

No, the oil pump does not have to be removed. If you have a lot of miles, it might not be a bad idea to take everything apart for inspection and to replace all the o-rings. If you have an '07-up, the service manual method of spinning the rear wheel in gear while torquing the pump bolts will work fine to align it. No screws needed.

Any suggestions on the cam. I an not kicking up the C. I. and looking to get best punch from the best from the 96 CI.
CAM? Yes.

My 50 cents worth:
DO get an EFI tuner (Fuel MOTO) instead of HD download (you can tune your build as it progresses).
DO install a cam. Great performance for the buck.
DO cut rods and replace with SE tapered push rods (wont have to remove the top end).
DO install it your self unless you have more money than tools (or for the same $$, buy the tools and you get to keep 'em!!).
DO get a manual and do the entire install on paper first.
DO answer every question you have Before you start.
DO rent the tools required including Oil Pump alignment screws (piece of mind).
DO chase the threads of all the fasteners you remove (they will be full of burnt up thread locker and ****).
DO take lots pictures at every step (you'll answer questions with em later).
Great time to install a reduced effort clutch ramp (low cost, high value mod).
Great time to install a longer clutch cable so you can install some apes (just me).

After 100's hours research, I installed Andrews TW26A Cam because it matched my riding needs (02 Road King).

+1 on the Scotty link.

iclick was a great help when I did my cam (thanks Bro).

Let us know what you decide and how you like it.....

I just installed Se 255 cams with adj. rods, already had rush TD's, se slip on's, high flow air kit and PC V (from Fuel Moto) on a 08 RG. All I can say is WOW! HUGE difference in TQ great pull from start all the way through the gears. Absolutely Great upgrade.

I did not remove my oil pump nor. I left it in place and only replaced the cam plate o-rings, which there were 2.

I am wanting to install cams on my 88. I have a breather and PCIII from FuelMoto. I have SE203's, but want something for low end, as a lot of my riding is from stop light to stop light or around town. I wanna get off the line. Will the SE203s work for me or is it worth getting another set? thanks.
