Cam or not to cam
It improved the HP and Torque over the whole RPM range and doesn't crap out like a lot of cams out there.
Purchasing a new 09 RK. Planning on installing a better breather, slips on, down load. The question is should I take the next step and replace the stock cam? And if so follow the suggestion and have the push rods clipped, and adjustable ones installed.
Any suggestions on the cam. I an not kicking up the C. I. and looking to get best punch from the best from the 96 CI.
My 50 cents worth:
DO get an EFI tuner (Fuel MOTO) instead of HD download (you can tune your build as it progresses).
DO install a cam. Great performance for the buck.
DO cut rods and replace with SE tapered push rods (wont have to remove the top end).
DO install it your self unless you have more money than tools (or for the same $$, buy the tools and you get to keep 'em!!).
DO get a manual and do the entire install on paper first.
DO answer every question you have Before you start.
DO rent the tools required including Oil Pump alignment screws (piece of mind).
DO chase the threads of all the fasteners you remove (they will be full of burnt up thread locker and ****).
DO take lots pictures at every step (you'll answer questions with em later).
Great time to install a reduced effort clutch ramp (low cost, high value mod).
Great time to install a longer clutch cable so you can install some apes (just me).
After 100's hours research, I installed Andrews TW26A Cam because it matched my riding needs (02 Road King).
+1 on the Scotty link.
iclick was a great help when I did my cam (thanks Bro).
Let us know what you decide and how you like it.....
