........ just one more reason my tour pak stays on most of the time anymore. Great/easy storage.
..... Had a 1/2 helmet stolen off my seat a couple years ago & i just don't care to take that chance again.
I leave mine hanging next to my gun holster..it don't get stolen.
Ok, I don't have a gun holster, but how cool would that be?
I used to ride an Ultra and had room to store two helmets. Now I ride a Softail and I just strap it to my back rest bag.
So far, I haven't had anything stolen, but I found my bag opened one night. I was smart enough to empty it before I stopped in that area though so I lost nothing. Hell, there's several hundred dollars worth of parts that'll come off these bikes pretty quick anyway so what're you gonna do?
Just put it in my trunk - LOL. The Ultra has SO much storage. But on a more sensible note, the half helmets fit fine in the saddlebags, wife has a Softail classic, she has no problem putting it in hers, and my half fits in my bags too.
When I rode a VTX and wanted to secure it (couldn't access the helmet lock cuz it was "conveniently located" behind the bags) - I used a laptop computer cable lock. Cheap and efficient.
I keep one of those String backpack things in my Pocket . If I go in somewhere I just put the D-ring through one of the string so I can put it on my back. It doesn't go in the bag just hangs off it.
Around here they steal anything that's not nailed down or bolted on.
I put mine on the right side mirror and strap it through the throttle cables. That way it can't just be lifted off and walked away with. If I want more security I use a tiny master lock to attach it to the cables with the D-ring. Then I walk away and don't think about it anymore. How else are you going to enjoy riding?
I purchased 2 of the Harley Helmet Locks and attached one on each side of my crash bar.
They Vibrate Like Crazy at 2500rpm and bug the crap out of me.
I would have taken them off the same day but the install with 1 way screws and I've been too lazy to drill them out. It actually took me a while to figure out where the "buzzing" sound was coming from and than I realized it was them.
