Question Renting a Scoot...

Would you pick up these options?

$9.50 per day Property Damage and Personal Injury Insurance (optional)
$14.83 per day Supplemental Liability Insurance (optional)
$25.00 per day Loss Damage Waiver available. (This will reduce the deposit and total liability for loss or damage to $1000.00)

SOOS,
I would check with your OWN insurance before renting. In my case, GEICO issued in Virginia carries over to any bike I rent, so like car rental, I am only liable for my deductable, which is reasonable, should I damage the bike. It depends on which state your policy is issued in. I was surprised before recently renting a scoot while on vacation in Florida that I was covered and opted to DECLINE the optional coverage.

In CO, my Allstate policy does not cover rented bikes, so in the past I have taken out just the loss damage waiver to limit my liability on the bike. I carry a personal umbrella policy that covers me for other personal liability issues.

Even though your insurance might cover the damages it might not cover the loss of revenue while the rental bike is in a the shop being repaired. You would be liable for the loss if the rental place can prove it was reserved and they lost money while it was in the shop. Need to ask your insurance company to find out.

$25.00 per day Loss Damage Waiver available. That is all I get when I rent a bike in Vermont every year.
