Casique, I think you're right. I have the manual, and I guess I'm going to try to do it myself, even if it does take longer to do! I did my own exhaust too and saved a bunch of $$ on that too!

xxxflhci... are those the full beach bars that you have? Nice looking bike!

Strtarrow, what area are you in? Were the bushings polyurethane? That's what I've got based on the dealer's recommendation.

Thanks again for all the advice!
Live near Mayberry and polyurethane is the word was having a brain fart on.

Question: Does the tank have to come up/off to replace the bars (and run the wiring internally)?

I replaced the bars a couple of times on the Deuce and it was easier that way. I have not gotten that far into the King, yet. Winter project and they are predicting 14 inches for tomorrow, can't wait.

I've got the WildOne Chubby 518's, not exactly BeachBars, but they come back a ways, and make for a very comfortable ride. As to doing it yourself, if you're willing to tackle the job, take your time, and you have the patience, you can do it in a weekend. Run the cables inside, that's the big pain in the butt, but well worth it. Also the braided cables are a necessity in my opinion. Solder every connection, and shrink wrap tape each one as well. Haven't had a problem since I did mine.

.
No, the tank does not have to come off. The control wires plug in behind the headlight.

Black cables blend in. Braided cables stand out like piping down the leg on a pair of dark pants. Preference is what counts here. However, braided cables can be a pain. If they are not coated, they will rub and scratch every thing they touch. If they are clearcoated, they can turn yellow over time.

I must come across as a real a-hole to these service guys! The best quote that I have so far is 6 hours @ $98/hr!! I've called another 4 places looking for someone to do this.

Oh well, I guess I'll give it a go on my own! The parts should be in on Friday, so I'll let you guys know how it goes!

clarkchriston... I don't know how your Indy does it... Those bars retail for $210! That's a great price!

Thanks for all the help!

Look like desert bars to me, as in Sahara.

I had my bars done, chrome everything, braided lines, PLUS chrome front end, chrome calipers, etc..for around $4500.

Definitely sounds like 8-12 is way off. I had a buddy help me with mine, didn't take us 8 hours. We were done even w/internal wiring in 5 including his smoke breaks.
