Default Dead Road King

Hi Guys...hoping someone will have a little insight on whats going on with my husbands bike. Its an 07 Road King Classic. Today I decided to move the bikes around and when I tried to start the RK it started to turn over then went completley dead. No lights, nothing not a sound. I put the battery tender on it but still nothing. Its been cold here but I am thinking it has to be something else. He is going to kill me when he gets home.......Any ideas on what it could be??

Thanks for any advice or info you can lend,
Cherie

Unhook the battery tender and check the voltage at the battery tender connection. That will let you know the condition of the battery and go from there. If the battery is real low it will take a long time for battery tender to charge.

Check the connections to your battery. There's a good chance one of them is loose.

Make sure your fuses are intact - anything blown, check that circuit!

Check your ground to the frame/bike.

Since it did start to turn over I agree with this post. The loose battery connectios is a possibility but just as possible your battery needs to be replaced. If you have an ohm meter and can get to the battery (I presume it is like my 01 RK and seat needs removed) check the readings or check accross the post for a short.

But your best bet is to go out and buy him a new bike. He will forget all about this issue.

Whoa......... Before you go checking all those connections.... if the battery was dead due to sitting there for a long time, then the bike will not start just because you connected the battery tender. The tender does not put out enough juice to start a bike. Let the tender be connected and charge the battery for for several hours... THEN try to start the bike. If it still doesn't start, then check all that other stuff.

Anyone think the security system might have something to do with it?
