Try starting out with a stage 1 air cleaner kit, EFI tuner and a good set of pipes. If that doesn't give you enough power then you can always go bigger. Call Jamie at FUELMOTO, tell him what you want and he will set you up.

I would save my money and buy a stock 96 cid Ultra. I've talked to several, including a tuner, who say the difference between a factory 96 and a 103 is very minor. The 103 Limited is Harley Marketing at its finest. With that said it will probably be Harley's base motor within a couple of years. And it will probably get you some credit on trade in.
Good luck buying below MSRP. May be able to wheel a deal a little on accessories.
I purchased my FLHTCU Nov. 21, 2009 from Old Fort Harley Davidson in Ft. Smith, Ar. I could not be happier. Added creature comforts grips, back rest, dash trim only power upgrades was SE slip-ons. I am very pleased with the power, for this old man the 96 preforms nicely. Just turned 500 miles, only complaint is an excessive amount of popping between the lower gears and upon decel. Will have the map checked at the 1000 service.
Thanks for the replies everyone. Living in Kansas I wont be doing much riding any time soon. I guess I'll see what kind of deal I can work out with this dealer tomorrow. I certainly hope they don't try and sell me a bike like it's the middle of summer prices. I understand HD has got MSRP and above for their bikes for years but that just isn't gonna cut it with me. The way the economy is and being the middle of winter I think I should be able to buy the bike below MSRP. If anyone has any purchasing advice please let me know. This particular dealer is in Kansas City. Do you think I should shop around? There is one other dealer nearby that has the bike I want and he quoted me $21,500 for a basic black Ultra with no options. Oh yeah, one other thing. You guys talk about a/c, what do you mean by that? Air Cleaner maybe???
Thanks a bunch
Called Topeka HD and ask for Eli. i live in KC and Eli has taken care of me and 5 of our friends. No big city attitude and great to deal with. I ride from Olathe to Topeka for all of my service because they treat me great and fair. worth a try. Mention my name - Ted from Miller.
A/C that we are talking about is indeed air cleaner. The stock a/c has limited air intake. An SE a/c and better slip ons will add to your power and reduce heat somewhat. To take advantage of it, you should get it tuned on a dyno. Check around in your area or ask on the forum if there are some good tuners in your area. Figure around $300 for the tune, $3-400 for slip ons and $100 or so for the a/c. You might get the dealer to "throw" in the a/c and some other goodies. W/O the tune, you may get some popping when you decel, but the tune should eliminate most or all of that and your bike will run really well. Tell the tuner that you want the bike to run well, lower the heat, not as interested in getting the max power.
Congrats on your decision and as one other poster said... when it gets warm... ride the heck out of it! I'd also suggest taking an Experienced Riders Course. You've ridden bikes before, but this course will renew good habits and will help you with low speed manuevers.
I bought the same bike in sept.. Looking back on it I wish I'd of gone with a Limited. The limited is tricked out a little more and I prefer the tow-tone paint. As far as the engine,,, I was a little discouraged at first but now with 3000 miles on it it has started to "wake-up" and actually has some response to the throttle twist. Of course it's put away being in the single digits and salt on the roads since the end of november. Congratulations on your purchase and enjoy!!!

I have actually met Eli and talked to him about a new Ultra. Unfortunately he didn't have what I want. I will call him again though.
