Tightening wire spokes

Do you guys use the sound method to listen for loose spokes? How do I know what a properly tightened spoke sounds like? Is it easy to mess up?

Yes, you can mess up by overtightening and yes, sound is a good indicator of looseness. The wheel is usually setup to spin freely and a dial indicator used to keep the wheel true as you tighten the spokes. If you have never done this before, have someone else do it. It's not hard once someone teaches you how. I am sure there is a you tube video out there showing how this is done.
