Default reviving a rusty tank

I am at the point of the build where I could put the tank on but as some of you know I can never leave well enough alone. I am goint to put a tank lift on the shovel which means cutting and patching some of the inside panels. The inside of the tank is rusted anyway. What do you suggest to use to clean and seal? POR-15 keeps poping up in all searches and kreem does to but not in good ways.

We would get them powder coated white inside at my old shop, but you need a powder coater that knows HOW to coat the INSIDE of tanks, not all of them can get it completely coated.

now thats a direction I never thought of going. I am retaining the origional paint due to nostalgic and personal reasons so I think that is out

Then POR will probably be your best bet but you need to get it REAL clean inside, so your gonna need to be REAL careful with the outside paint when cleaning the inside!

Kreem has a bad habit of peeling back off if not prepped PERFECTLY!

Go to O'Riely's and buy a product called evap-o-rust. $25 for 1/2 gallon. Buy a gallon. Pour it in your tank and let your tank set on each side for about a day. Bottom, side, upside down, other side. It works. I restored an old Kaw with a completelly rusted tank inside. Cleaned it up like new and the rust has not returned. Great product.

+1 on kreem. Ive used it many times as a motorcycle tech. If the directions are followed and patience are used, the results can be the repair you need.

Kreem, but follow the directions and no shortcuts.
